- Do I need to have an x-ray performed? Is it safe?
Yes, you will need to have an x-ray performed before treatment is rendered. The reason behind this is because there are some dental conditions that may mask themselves as something else and Dr. Bien needs to know that she is treating the correct condition. Dental x-rays are considered to be safe and they only expose you to a minimal amount of radiation, so you do not have to worry about any lasting effects. If you have questions about x-rays, contact our Fremont office today.
- Why should I choose a dental implant specialist?
It is in your best interest to choose a dental implant specialist because they have additional training and expertise in the dental implant field. Each implant specialist receives anywhere from three to four years of additional training at a school accredited by the ADA. Dr. Bien is an implant specialist and can provide you with the care that you need.
- How many surgeries are needed to have my teeth extracted and implants placed?
In most cases, depending on the type of implants you want, you will need to come into our office either once or twice. If you need to come into our office once, you will receive immediate implants, which are placed the same day your teeth are extracted. If you need to come in for two appointments, you will have your teeth extracted at the first appointment and then implants placed once the jawbone is healed at a second appointment.
- Who is a good candidate for dental implants?
There are some individuals who may or may not be good candidates for dental implants. Before you know if you are a good candidate, you will need to have a consultation performed. Candidate are ideally someone who:
- Has loose teeth or dentures
- Has a problem with food being stuck under the dental bridge
